Step out of your comfort zone and start your Virtual Assistant business
Do you want to start your business as a Virtual Assistant?
Do you want to start your business as a Social Media Manager?
Do you know where to start?
Do you know how to explain what you do?
When you start a new job, oftentimes, people want to know what you are doing? During interviews, the interviewee may ask you:
What qualifies you?
What makes you think you are the best fit?
Why should they choose you over someone else?
All of these are typical questions that'll be asked at some point throughout your career and are also questions that mostly all of us mull over answering at a job interview.
My entire career has been in teaching. It's all I've ever known. As a teacher, you don’t usually have to explain what you do, just what grade and what school. But what do you do when you are starting a business and you are now having to explain it to the world? What do you do if you are learning a business as you are launching it? How do you explain that to people when you are trying to figure it all out yourself?
Explaining what a Virtual Assistant does or what a Social Media Manager does is not the easiest to explain. Trust me, I get it. This job comes with a wide range of possibilities and at the start of this new business, trying to figure out your area of expertise is also not easy. So many times we jump into a specific business and think it has to be figured out right from the start but that may not always be the best method.
Let’s think it through a little more.
Why do we think we have to know it all upfront? That is not how it always happens. Normalize the learning part. Jump in full force, learn along the way and share the journey of what you are learning with your audience.
So here are my top three things to do when starting your business:
Pray about it! Yes, I genuinely believe that you need to pray over and think this through before you take your first step.
Then start: read, research, watch videos and follow people who are doing similar work. Again, learning as you go and seeing real-life examples of how it is being done. This can be incredibly helpful.
Be confident in what you know and be BOLD in the choices you make to start your business.
No one wants to work for or with someone unsure, so FAKE IT UNTIL YOU MAKE IT!!!!
The scariest thing is not starting; sitting and wondering what could have happened IF you had started.
Step out of your comfort zone.
Don't let fear stop you from starting your business.
Don’t regret anything either.
JUST GO FOR IT!
