Creating a Brand for Your Business

The more a customer sees something, the more likely they are to remember it when they need a business to provide a particular good or service. It’s important that your audience recognizes your business when they see it so that they will remember you when they have a need. One of the best ways to ensure your potential customers will recognize your social media content or the goods you provide is branding. Creating a brand for your business may seem daunting, but it is just a way of helping you stand out in a crowd of other businesses. It’s also important to note that in today’s online world, branding is much more than a business name and logo. Let’s take a look at five ways you can brand your business:

Five Ways to Brand Your Business

1.     Choose a theme or specific item that is associated with you or your business. You may be well known as the one who loves ladybugs or maybe your nickname is Daisy. These are perfect items to incorporate into your branding so that people will immediately associate your work with you and your business. This may also be an item that is used in your logo.

2.     Use a particular photo filter on all of the photos you post on social media or your website to create a seamless, unified look. Perhaps your photos are filtered to all look bright and whimsical. Customers will come to recognize those photos as belonging to you and your business. This is also a great way to make your photo-heavy feeds (such as Instagram) look more esthetically pleasing. Everything flows well and seems to belong and function as a single unit.

3.     Creating the same username for all social media platforms and your website. If your business name is your web address, it should also be used in social media usernames if possible. Your email should also contain this name, if possible, even if an additional word such as “blog” is added. Customers may remember your business name easily but be unable to find you on Facebook if the name is different than Instagram, for example.

4.     Create a brand color palette. Using the same few colors in all of your graphics and logos is also a form of branding. Much like the photo filter, potential customers will begin to notice what colors you use in your content, and they will associate that with you. Additionally, color is often something that will draw customers to you (your brand’s colors may be their favorites or match the décor they admire).

5.     Remain consistent. While this type of branding is not particularly visual, it is important. If you have a particular type of content you often post, it’s best not to deviate too far from that type of content. For example: if you have a more professional and serious page on which you usually create informative posts and photos of your work, a sudden silly meme might throw off your potential customers or make them think someone else has been on your account. Choose at the beginning the types of content you want to have and stick with it.

As you can see, creating a brand for your business is not difficult, but it does take a bit of thought and creativity. It’s a good idea to brainstorm about each of these items before suddenly putting them all into play at once. Once you have an established brand for your business, you will find that more people recognize your work more easily.
