Brand Colors Continued
Choosing your brand colors is more than just picking colors you like.
There is a science behind the colors and what they can do to promote your business.
As a social media manager I get to work with many different kinds of businesses and seeing their brand colors and logos always intrigue me. I often wonder how they came upon those colors.
As little children we are able to easily tell brands and businesses by their logos and colors. Think about the companies you have seen your entire life (Coke, Pepsi, McDonalds, Chick-fil-A, etc) you can easily spot their brand and business just by the logo and colors.
So, what can you do to make sure you choose the colors that will draw in your target audience but also fully represent you and your business?
A lot of research has gone into color theory, did you even know that? So, let’s rely on the experts to help you decide on the best color for your business:
Red is associated with danger, excitement, and energy. It’s also known for being the color of love and passion.
Pink is feminine, it’s sentimental and romantic. Different shades, like hot pink, can be youthful and bold.
Orange, like it’s namesake, is fresh and full of vitality. It’s also creative, adventurous, and associated with being cost-effective.
Yellow is optimistic. It’s a color associated with being playful and happy.
Green is natural, often used to demonstrate sustainability. But it can also align with prestige and wealth.
Blue is trustworthy and reliable. It’s calming or often associated with depression.
Purple is royalty and majesty. It can be spiritual and mysterious.
Brown is down-to-earth and honest, often used for organic wholesome products.
White is pure. It conveys simplicity and innocence, often with a minimalistic feel.
Black is both sophisticated and elegant. It can be formal and luxurious, but also sorrowful.
Multicolor is united or open to anything. It’s great for capturing the spirit of diversity.

So, now that you know what each color means, what does your brand colors say about your business?
If I am being completely honest I never looked into the color theory behind the colors I chose. As am former educator however I was aware that blues were more calming colors, and it is my favorite color. When it came to my colors though I picked what I liked and wanted a calming, tranquil theme to my brand and business.
As a Social Media Manager I want to be the calm of your social media storm, I want to provide support that allows you to take the burden of marketing on Social Media off of your plate. So, do my colors represent that message? I think so, but only because it was luck, not because I did the research behind the colors.
Take the time to study these colors and their meanings and then ask yourself, Does you brand colors truly represent your business and market to your target audience?
