3 Social Media Mistakes Business Owners Make

Do you post consistent, interesting content to your business pages on social media and wonder why you aren’t getting the results you want? It’s possible you’re making one of the mistakes that many business owners make with their social media pages. Let’s explore three of the mistakes that are sometimes made with social media:

  1. Not Engaging On Other Posts/Pages – As important as it is to consistently post on your page and respond to questions, it’s also important to post elsewhere on your platform of choice. Try using your business page to post and interact in groups and on other pages and profiles. Many users who interact with those pages will be introduced to you through your posts. Interacting with you (and your business) on those pages will allow these new users to form a relationship with you and may help you gain new followers and potential clients!

  2. Spreading Yourself Too Thin – Maybe you are already planning and posting consistently to your social media pages, and you don’t understand why you aren’t getting much interaction. Take a look at your content – does it feel rushed or overly simplified? Is the time you are spending on creating content keeping you from interacting with your followers? Be careful not to spread yourself too thin with your social media. It may be a good idea to post less often (perhaps three times per week instead of five). The time you’ll save can be used more intentionally to interact with users or create better, high quality content.

  3. Giving Up Too Soon – It can be easy to work diligently on your business profiles and feel like your time is wasted. Remember that building a brand and platform is a marathon and not a sprint. When you feel like giving up, take a look at your analytics and see how far you’ve come. Have a brainstorm session to try something new. Success might be around the next corner – don’t give up!
