3 Tips For Creating High-Level Content

Creating content online can be as simple as sharing your thoughts, a photo, or a video. However, marketing yourself online in a productive way takes a bit more work and intentionality. A bit more time spent planning and creating intentional, valuable content is a necessity in growing your social media presence and following. There are many ways to improve the content that you create, but today I’m sharing three that I believe will help you begin creating more high-level content.

  1. Ignore your biggest critic (aka yourself) – Have you ever begun a new project or hobby and spent hours improving your craft only to feel disappointment at the result? It is so easy for us to criticize our own work because we compare it to our original imagined result. However, most other people who see the result of our hard work are likely to appreciate and admire it. That is because they are looking at the result in its finished form and appreciating it for what it is. When you begin creating content on social media, you may find it difficult to appreciate the photo, reel, video, or caption that you’ve worked so hard on, but take a step back and try to view it as someone else might. We often assume that other people are picking apart the things that we don’t like, but they usually don’t even notice the things that bother us about our own work. Ignore that inner critical voice and share that post!

  2. Use popular features within each platform – Each social media platform is unique because of the features that it offers or because of its specific purpose. Twitter, for example, is specifically designed for sharing short, concise thoughts of its users in bite-sized pieces. Instagram is a visual platform for photos and videos. It’s important to use the features that each platform offers in order to accentuate your content in a way that the audience prefers. Instagram is for users seeking visual entertainment or information, but many users tend to scroll without sound. Instagram offers a closed caption option for its stories to improve accessibility, but this is also a popular feature for users who enjoy viewing stories during times when it’s inappropriate to watch with sound. It’s also likely that some platforms push out content which uses particular functions in order to obtain data on its popularity.

  3. Share content on multiple platforms – You probably already know that many content creators use their content for multiple platforms to reach a larger audience. It’s also important to adjust your content to fit each platform. For example, you may create a full-length video on budgeting for your YouTube channel, but long-form content may not be appropriate to share on Instagram. Instead of sharing the same information, use the main points of your video to create a reel or to share in your Instagram stories. You are using the same information and plan but adjusting it to best reach an audience on a different platform.

Creating content that works for you can take work and planning, but it is worth it in the long run. Your followers will appreciate seeing your authenticity and will enjoy interacting with you through content that they can see you worked hard to create. Be intentional, keep it simple, and bring value.

Have you ever felt that your content needed to be perfect before posting?

Have you ever created content and failed to post it because you felt it wasn’t good enough?
