Make Your Instagram Bio POP!

In today’s social media world, your Instagram bio can be a huge asset – or a wasted space. Your bio is at the top of your profile and is available to convey information about you, your brand, your mission, your goals and more. Utilizing your bio space is important, and today we are going to discuss a few ways to make your Instagram bio POP!

You may be asking what your Instagram bio is, exactly. This is a space at the top of your Instagram profile that includes (for example) your name, page category, personal details/contact information, a 150 character description space, and one external link. Your bio is a place that you can let visitors to your profile know who you are, what you do, and what you care about.

Your Instagram bio may draw in a viewer or put them off (which includes a bio that has no information and doesn’t hold any interest).  It’s important for you to convey exactly what your audience needs to know about you in a short, concise format. You may also want to entice users to interact with you by inviting them to visit your website or use a special hashtag for your brand.

Use your Instagram bio to share your story or your purpose. In just a couple of sentences (or bullet points!), let the audience know who you are and what you are good at. If you specialize in pet photography, let them know that you love pets and that you love capturing the little details of their fur babies. You may even include the name and/or breed of your personal pets to make a connection with your target audience. Don’t forget to include a cute pet emoji!

The name field in your Instagram bio is separate from your username, so utilize it to include keywords for your niche or business! Research popular key terms for your particular niche to include in this section of your bio to increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and help your target audience find your Instagram profile easily.

As mentioned in the introduction, your Instagram bio is a great place to include your contact information for potential clients. If you switch to a business profile, you can include your contact information such as your email address, phone number, and WhatsApp information without using up additional characters in your bio. However, regardless of profile these details are important to include in this area of your profile.

This may seem obvious but choose a relevant profile photo for your Instagram profile. Your photo will be situated directly above your bio and should be relevant to your branding. If your brand includes your pet or particular colors, including them in your profile photo can create a more seamless look for your profile. For a business, using your logo as your profile photo is a good idea so that customers quickly associate your profile with your brand. For influencers or someone who is their brand, a headshot is the way to go!

There are plenty of other ways to use your Instagram bio and other tools to create an ideal dashboard for your target audience. It’s important to take the time to research and utilize tools that are provided by Instagram and some third-party companies to really give your Instagram profile that extra “wow” factor for your visitors. Take a look at your profile in the mindset of a new visitor and imagine what you would want to see on a profile you are visiting. That may be the best place to start. Happy posting!
