Launching a New Product on Social Media
Launching a new product can be difficult in general but using social media for a launch can be especially challenging. However, social media is also an incredibly popular place that can set up your new product for success.
Using Social Media to Your Advantage
1. It’s important to generate interest in your new product before the product is actually available. This can be achieved with teasers to create suspense and help potential customers interact with you about the new product. This may mean releasing hints about what the product is or about details of the products or sharing teaser photos of the product.
2. Creating a hashtag to use specifically for your new project is a great way to keep all information or content regarding the launch connected and easily accessed. With a simple click, potential customers can find out more about the product, see any teasers, and find any additional information you have provided about the launch. A hashtag can also help you see if anyone is mentioning the product on social media or asking questions about it. A hashtag should be simple and easy to remember, but if you can make it fun and interesting, even better!
3. Engagement is also an integral part of sharing on social media, and a great way to generate engagement is by offering contests related to your product launch. Tagging friends, sharing content, or even participating in a fun interactive story or activity are great ways to have users enter a contest based on your product or brand.
4. What is a better way to hype up an event like a product launch than a countdown? It’s the perfect way to periodically remind potential customers of the upcoming launch and build excitement for the product itself without being too over the top.
5. Consistency is important with any launch, and social media launches are no different. Posting on multiple platforms is a great idea, but your posts should be relatively similar to each other design-wise in order to allow users to connect them to your particular product. Customers should be able to easily recognize that your post belongs to your upcoming product launch as well as your brand as a whole.
6. Another way to create interest as well as engagement is to create quizzes or puzzles around your launch. This may also include polls that are specific to your target audience. You may design a quiz for users to determine which product from your brand they should purchase according to their personality or maybe what pattern would best suit them on your new product.
7. While encouraging engagement from your audience, be sure you are also engaged on your social media posts. Review your comments and questions and take time to respond to your current or potential customers. Feeling connected with you will help customers associate you (and your brand) with positive interaction and community.
