All about Instagram

Where are my Instagram people?

I love Instagram!

I love photos and what they represent.  Instagram is the perfect place to draw people into your business with a photo.  So much can be shared on the newsfeed of your Instagram and your Instagram stories.  This is a huge platform to attract people to your business and your brand.

There are so many options for content calendars and an overload of options to guide your posts. Now, I don’t know about you, but sometimes it can just be too much.

Something I do often is to use my life to guide my posting. This is my first stop in deciding what to post daily. I will say that so many give Instagram a negative perception because it can be so “fake” or the “highlight reel” of our lives.   This can be true but it can be a chance for you to get real with your followers. I want my followers to know who I am and I want to be real.  Sometimes that means sharing the not so pretty things of my life.

Think about who you follow and why.  Why do you follow them?

Is it because they are “perfect”  and everything is so wonderful or is it because they are REAL? So, use that as your baseline for posting.  Use your life to guide what you share with the world.

Now, what if you get stuck and you don’t know what to post?  I have some topics that I always go back to on those days where I just have no idea what to post.  So, I am sharing them below and some tips to make those posts work for you.

Topics to fall back on when you can’t figure out what to post:

  1. Share your bio, share fun facts about you that people don’t know.  Give people an inside look at who you are that they may not see daily.

  2. Share your favorite motivational quotations or the quotations that speak to you.  Then take it a step further and share in your posts why this is speaking to you at this point in your life. I love quotes and they mean something to me at each season of my life, so share that with your followers.

  3. Business tips: share something that you are learning as you build your business.  Share the tricks and tips that you have learned, chances are someone else needs that tip.

  4. Share a poll:  ask your followers something that you want to know about them, what they want to see on your posts, ask for their advice on a topic, etc.

  5. Lifestyle Post:  Share something that you think someone wants to know about your lifestyle: home decor, make-up, cooking, etc.

  6. Holidays: every month has a holiday, celebration, or even multiple throughout the month.  Use these special days to drive your content posts.

  7. Services:  Share what you do, share what you offer and what you are there for so those who follow will know if you’re the person for them and their business.

These are not posts that you should repeat every single day every single month.  These are those posts you go to when you are unsure of what to share.

Again, I fully believe in being REAL on your business platform.  It is HUGE to show up on Instagram every day.

Taking a day off can put you so far behind in being seen on this type of social media platform.

When you can’t figure out what to post, go back to these topics to make sure you are getting something out every day.

Do you need help creating and implementing this strategy?
