3 Simple Ways to Provide Value to Followers
Most social media users follow an account because it provides some type of value to them. This value may be in the form of entertainment, inspiration, problem solving, or a host of other options. It’s important that you provide your followers with value to encourage them to interact with and share your content with others. That may seem like a lot of work but bringing some type of value to your followers can be accomplished fairly easily. Today we will take a look at three types of content that can provide value.
Inspire – one way to bring value to your followers is to inspire them. This can be anything from sharing inspirational quotes and stories to posting beautiful content that inspires them to improve something in their lives. An interior design business might inspire their followers by posting beautifully decorated shelves that will encourage someone to update their own home décor. An artist might share a personal story or work that inspires a follower to pursue a dream or hobby of their own. When someone knows that they will be inspired by viewing your posts, they are more likely to seek out your content when they are in need of motivation.
Inform – another reason users follow particular pages is to be informed. Posting about your products and services is one way to provide useful information. Providing tips and tricks about your trade is another great way to provide informative value to your followers. Perhaps as a florist you could give your followers tips on keeping their flowers fresh longer. A professional cleaner might let their followers know exactly what their work entails and what areas they focus on cleaning in various settings.
Inquire – asking questions of your audience may not seem like a way to provide value, but it certainly can be. Asking users questions can accomplish a couple of things: the answers can provide you with information to improve users’ experience by curating content that they prefer, and you can phrase questions in such a way as to help your followers see things in a new way that is helpful to them. For example, posing a question about what goal your users can accomplish within one hour (or day or week) might cause someone to work towards and/or achieve that goal right away. Most people have likely put off working on something simply because it slips their mind. A post reminding them could provide the encouragement they need to succeed.
Take a moment to think about the pages you follow on social media. Do they provide value to your life? Review a few of the posts that you have engaged with and notice what value those posts provide. Not only can providing value help you gain followers, but knowing you are helping others will bring value to your own life.
