Showing up on Instagram Stories

Recently we talked about how to use Instagram stories if you are introverted.  This is something that we all know can be difficult.  You want to look just right; you want things to be perfect but GUESS WHAT?

People don’t always want to see the perfect and the put-together. They want to see the real and the raw.  This makes you relatable. I have been showing up on stories for YEARS, and I have evolved over time, but what I notice more than anything is the most interaction and engagement come from the stories that are on the fly, more authentic and natural, not planned and scripted.

Does that mean you can’t show up with pre-recorded videos? No, you definitely can, but I challenge you to take a moment to step outside of your comfort zone to see what happens.  Let’s see if you can continue to share when you see that more interaction will come from those more natural stories.

So here are some simple steps to show up on stories and be more of yourself because that is what people want to see- YOU and connect more with YOU!

  1. Set up your phone with a time-lapse as you are doing basic things around your house, cooking, morning routine with the kids, working out, etc.

  2. While washing your face with routine skincare, talk to the camera about what's on your agenda for the day.

  3. Share a photo of yourself or a short video with your daily schedule.

  4. Show your office behind the scenes where you work each day.

  5. What does your process look like - this can be a short video showing a tool you couldn’t work without.

There are simple ways to get comfortable with stories, but trust me when I tell you that showing up on stories will be a game-changer for you and your business.  You are the face of your company and who people want to see.

What is your biggest fear with showing up on your stories? Did these tips help?
